The work in your hands is a reliable commentary on Imam Bukhari's famous work, Sahih al-Bukhari, written by one of the greatest scholars of the last century, Muhaddith Muhammad Anwar Shah al-Kashmiri (may Allah have mercy on him). The work was formed by the compilation of al-Kashmiri's lectures on Sahih al-Bukhari by two of the author's students, Muhammad Badr-i Alam al-Mirathi (may Allah have mercy on him) and Muhammad Yusuf al-Bannuri (may Allah have mercy on him), and has been printed several times in Arabic. The edition taken as the basis for the translation in your hands is the 6-volume copy published by Dar al-Kutub al-Ilmiyyah (Beirut, 1426 / 2005).
Before teaching Sahih al-Bukhari to his students, al-Kashmiri carefully read through it thirteen times, taught this book to his students for over twenty years, and studied about thirty of its commentaries. Fayd al-Bari contains a wealth of valuable information not found in other commentaries on Sahih al-Bukhari.
One of the aspects that distinguishes this work from similar studies is that it presents the appearance of a Fiqh al-Hadith study, in which controversial issues are predominantly discussed. Indeed, the author's assessments, particularly regarding difficult and controversial hadiths, in which he reflects on the wisdom and purposes of the rulings, constitute a large part of the commentary.
Translated with great meticulousness by Mehmet Keskin, a former member of the High Board of Religious Affairs, the work will be published by our publishing house in 15 volumes in stages, insha'Allah.
