In this study, the ascetics and Sufis, as well as the hadith scholars with Sufi inclinations who lived in the 4th century AH/10th century AD and occupy an important place in the history of Sufism, have been examined. Emphasis has been placed on their understanding of hadith and the status of the hadiths they utilized. This study is significant in terms of examining the Sufis' understanding of hadith and the status of the hadiths they selected, as it has been determined that some Sufi figures, albeit with good intentions, were involved in the practice of fabricating hadiths. Furthermore, it has been noted that the period examined holds a significant place in the history of Sufism and that the fundamental sources of Sunni Sufism were written during this era.
