The purpose of this book is to provide a foundation for an Islamic view of biology. Among the Muslims of our age, this view is lacking and this task has remained unfulfilled. Given the existence of a major obstacle called the Theory of Evolution, it is clear that one cannot be a creationist without overcoming this hurdle. Muslims are aware of the Theory of Evolution, yet they respond to it in different ways. Some reject the theory, while others endorse it. We, however, find both approaches to be incorrect, as they remain insufficient in resolving the fundamental issue. In our view, a contemporary Islamic perspective on biology must be grounded in the Analysis of the Élan Vital, a critique of the Theory of Evolution, and the application of the Dialectic of Ibda to biology. In this book, we have attempted to do just that. Even if we have not succeeded in our claim, we have made an effort that may contribute to the rise of an Islamic view of biology upon solid foundations. Therefore, this work has been written with the aim of contributing to the development of an Islamic view of biology.
