Praise be to Allah, Lord of the Worlds. And peace be upon all the Prophets and Messengers. O Allah, send blessings and peace upon the one whom You sent as a mercy to the worlds, and upon all his wives and his family. This book was written for the purpose of introducing the noble wives of our beloved Prophet. This work, as prepared, is definitely not a “book of manâqib” (hagiography). In other words, this book should not be thought of as a collection of information—often fabricated or exaggerated, rational or irrational—that exists more in a world of imagination than in real life, under the guise of telling the stories of our mothers. In this book, we have made our assessments based on sources we have read by generally referring to the Holy Quran, hadith collections such as Bukhari, Muslim, Abu Dawud, Tirmidhi, Nasa'i, and Ibn Majah, and works that introduce the Companions of the Prophet.
