The Masnavi-i Sharif, which Mevlânâ Jalal ad-Din Rumi (may his secret be sanctified) poured from his heart onto the lines, has kneaded the spirit of these lands, and its call has encompassed the entire world. Indeed, there has been no one who has approached and explained this exceptional work as beautifully as the lover of Mevlânâ, Tâhirü’l-Mevlevî.

Tâhirü’l-Mevlevî was a lover who lived his life committed to the principles of Mevlânâ and deeply penetrated the essence of the Masnavi. To him, the Masnavi is the mirror of the Qur’an and Sunnah, the quintessence and pith of the Qur’an. This commentary by Tâhirü’l-Mevlevî is a solid source compiled in accordance with the Ahl as-Sunnah creed, without deviating from its path or leading the reader astray. With this commentary, you will become more aware of the beauties and subtleties of the Masnavi-i Sharif and will find yourself reading it again and again.

As Tâhirü’l-Mevlevî’s life did not suffice for him to complete his work, the final one and a half volumes, consisting of 8,024 couplets, were finished by his student, the late Şefik Can. These form the last three volumes of this edition.

Since considerable time had passed since the first publication of this distinguished work and due to some oversights and errors that had escaped notice, the need arose to revise the work; thus, Tâhirü’l-Mevlevî’s handwritten lecture notes on the Masnavi Commentary were reviewed and missing parts were completed. Furthermore, in this edition, the Turkish transliterations of all the Persian couplets in the Masnavi have been included next to the couplets. Likewise, the hadiths mentioned in the text and commentary have been verified, the sources of the Masnavi and Divân-ı Kebîr couplets cited for illustrative purposes in the commentary have been indicated in the footnotes, and every effort has been made to produce a meticulous edition that the reader will find delightful.
