Loving our Prophet is the foundation, essence, and requirement of the Islamic faith. You cannot believe without loving, nor can you love without believing. The Islamic heritage concerning the love of other prophets, the Ahl al-Bayt, the Companions, and the mutual love among Muslims reveals the inseparable bond between faith, morality, and love. However, the love for Muhammad al-Mustafa occupies a special place. For just as the path to knowing and loving Allah passes through him, the fundamental principle of all other loves is also Hz. Ahmed Muhammad Mustafa.
When the Truth (Al-Haqq) inclined to be known, the first thing to manifest was the reality of our Prophet. All existence emerges from this love according to its respective levels, and receives its share of love accordingly. Therefore, the reality of all existence is love, that is, Hz. Muhammad. Thus, for a person to know themselves and to comprehend existence and being begins by holding onto the rope of faith—which is one end of this love—and becoming a servant to our Prophet. Its end is the negation of existence other than Him and the attainment of the origin of love; reaching the Muhammadan Reality (Hakikat-i Muhammediyye) and the pure/Essential love.
From the noble Companions to the present day, many perfect and sincere lovers have carried this blessing in various ways to hearts that seek and thirst for Muhammadan love. One of the figures from whom this love emanated and overflowed into speech and writing is Imam Busiri, who is known for his Mudariyya and Hamziyya odes, but most famously for his Qasida al-Burda. Busiri, who was enveloped in the love of our Prophet... This poetic text, which has become a litany for the lovers of Muhammad since the time it was written, has been seen, experienced, and utilized not only as a remedy for the pain of separation but also as a cure for physical illnesses. It has enveloped its readers and seekers with healing and love.
Dozens of commentaries have been written on the Qasida al-Burda in various Islamic languages, and over twenty Turkish translations have been penned from the 15th century to the present day. The work in your hands covers nineteen of these famous poetic translations and a short commentary text. This series of translations, spanning a vast period of five hundred years, has been arranged in a way that allows for comparative reading. Thus, along with the text of the Qasida al-Burda, the accumulated love and wisdom of its translators, each of whom is a star in our world of gnosis, will also be revealed.
