It is an inevitable duty for every Muslim woman to have knowledge of menstruation, postpartum bleeding, and irregular bleeding, as these play a direct role in their daily worship and actions. The original of the book is the treatise titled “Zuhrü’l-müte’ehhilîn ve’n-nisâ’ fî ta‘rîfi’l-athâr ve’d-dimâ,” which was written in 979 (1571-72) by the Turkish scholar Imam Birgivi (d. 981/1573) and addresses the specific states of women. As Imam Birgivi stated at the beginning of the treatise, the states specific to women have been abandoned and forgotten as if they did not exist. So much so that people have become unable to distinguish between the issues of menstruation, postpartum bleeding, and irregular bleeding. For this reason, Imam Birgivi felt the necessity to write a treatise covering the states specific to women, excluding controversial and insignificant topics, and presenting only preferred fatwas. Since the age we are in is in a much worse state than Imam Birgivi's time, we, as the Ismailaga Fatwa and Compilation Board, have deemed it appropriate to translate this valuable work of Imam Birgivi. In our translation work, we have provided the Arabic text first, followed by a full translation—with explanations where deemed necessary—and a literal meaning of the text.
