Worship, by its very essence, is sometimes a prayer, sometimes a wish, and sometimes a refuge. Although humans may sometimes forget, in certain situations they want to take refuge in a powerful creator for protection, and they want paradise to live eternally. These instances of taking refuge and making requests sometimes take the form of prayer and sometimes specific rituals. These constitute worship. Worship means to serve as a servant. In history, some Egyptian kings made people bow down and prostrate before them. Other kings had people worship them as well. However, in divine religions, worship is performed only to the being who created everything. That is why the early Christians refused to worship the Roman emperor. In this book, we will show the sources of all these. However, we will focus more on the jurisprudence of Islamic worship.
