"This work is my entire being, the wisdom of my existence, my everything... Just as the bee is tasked with geometrizing its honeycomb, I was created to weave this work together. My poems, my plays, my stories, as well as my scientific and intellectual writings, are nothing more than the 'outbuildings' surrounding the edifice that this work defines...
How fitting is the beautiful Turkish term 'katık' (accompaniment). True sustenance is bread, which we call 'nân-ı aziz' (precious bread), and everything else is merely 'katık,' implying what is added to it... How beautiful a symbol is this dry and plain, yet nourishing and saving idea, which turns its back on all the creams and 'fantasy' games atop cakes, for bread, containing over fifty percent hydrocarbon essence!
And so, as I complete this work of a cause as old as eternity and as new as forever, on the scale of all humanity, I dedicate it to the youth of Anatolia, whose nourishment I know to be indebted to the bread of the Great East." N.F.K. / 1968
