In this book, which we were honored to publish along with his three-volume work "Noktanın Yarısı" (Half of the Dot) in 2014 and "Zamanın Gölgesi" (Shadow of Time) in 2018, Takyeddin Zahid Arvâs, deeming it appropriate to entitle it "Gevaş Mufti Sheikh Sayyid Ali İhsan Arvas (Nasreddin the Second)," has compiled some of the words, states, and especially the witticisms of his late father, Gevaş Mufti Sayyid Ali İhsan Arvâs [1919-1992]—may Allah have mercy upon him—who was known for his knowledge, wisdom, virtues, perfection, and wit in Van, Istanbul, Ankara, Hakkari, Ağrı, Erzurum, Bitlis, and many other places, and who was famously known as "Nasreddîn-i Sânî" (Nasreddin the Second). He gathered these accounts, each of which is a droplet of knowledge, wisdom, virtue, and enlightenment, from the personal observations of his own children and loved ones. Sayyid Ali İhsan Arvâs—may Allah have mercy upon him—was one of the noble sons of Sheikh Sayyid Hüseyn-i Arvâsî [1887-1962]—may his secret be sanctified. Sheikh Sayyid Hüseyn-i Arvâsî—may his secret be sanctified—was one of the noble sons of the "Arvâsî Sayyid Dynasty" and of Sheikh, Allame Sayyid Fehîm-i Arvâsî [1825-1896]—may his secret be sanctified—who was a master of the Naqshbandi-Mujaddidi-Khalidi, Qadiri, Suhrawardi, Kubrawi, and Chishti orders from the "Silsila-i Aliyye" (Golden Chain). He was also a follower and student of Sheikh Sayyid Abdülhakîm-i Arvâsî [1860-1943]—may his secret be sanctified—a master of the Naqshbandi-Mujaddidi-Khalidi, Qadiri, Suhrawardi, Kubrawi, Chishti, and Uwaysi orders, who was an absolute deputy of his blessed father, Sheikh Allame Sayyid Fehîm-i Arvâsî, and who passed away in the early hours of Saturday, 29 Dhu al-Qi'dah 1362 [November 27, 1943] in Ankara-Keçiören, without leaving a deputy or successor, and was buried in Bağlûm. Sayyid Ali İhsan Arvâs—may Allah have mercy upon him—who was also the elder brother of the former Van Mufti, Mudarris (professor) and scholar Sayyid Qasim Arvâs—may Allah have mercy upon him—and Mudarris and scholar Sayyid Shamseddin Arvâs—may Allah have mercy upon him—passed away on 21 Ramadan 1412 [Tuesday, March 24, 1992] in Istanbul and was buried in the Zeve Village Cemetery in the Gevaş district of Van.
