“Youth!

"You ask me which of the existing philosophical doctrines is appropriate to choose in order to exalt our nation and homeland. I wonder if you have considered that this question is heavy enough to crush any fair conscience? Youth is a blessing whose true value is only appreciated in old age. For the young, life is a poem. Only the soul-caressing melodies of dream fairies and the anthems of hope can reach the enthusiastic hearts of the youth. Their innocent eyes see not bloody tragedies in this battlefield called life, but the passion of aspiration and hope. They believe in virtue and deny vulgarity. It is this state of theirs that deceives them, makes them love life, and gives them the strength to bear the burden of sorrows. However, once the truth—which is veiled by an enchanting curtain woven from countless poems and veils of fantasy—is revealed by the lifting of this curtain, a person falls terribly from the skies of imagination to this wretched ground. How bitter!

This fall, from one perspective, is an evolution and progress. For the human who previously only imagined can, after this fall, be called a 'thinker.' It is a man who has fallen from the skies of imagination and has been cast onto this barren ground of truth because he thinks who is speaking these words to you. It is possible that my words will seem bitter to you and will collide with your precious dreams. Yet, every person owes it to themselves to speak the truth they find in their conscience. To act in this manner, to be worthy of trust, is a matter of honor..."
