Tafsir al-Jalalayn (Tafsīr al-Jalālayn)
Tafsir al-Jalalayn is a commentary on the Holy Quran that was authored by Jalal al-Din al-Mahalli but remained unfinished at his death, only to be completed by his famous student Jalal al-Din al-Suyuti. Written in a concise manner, this work is referred to as "Lubb al-Tafasir" (the essence of commentaries) and remains a widely read tafsir to this day.
LUBB AL-TAFASIR (TAFSIR AL-JALALAYN)
Tafsir al-Jalalayn is named after the "two Jalals." It was completed by al-Suyuti following the death of al-Mahalli. While the work provides a commentary on the Quran from Surah al-Kahf to Surah al-Nas, Surah al-Fatiha was also added by al-Suyuti.
WHICH MUFASSIR AUTHORED WHICH PART OF TAFSIR AL-JALALAYN
There are varying accounts regarding which part of Tafsir al-Jalalayn belongs to which mufassir (exegete). However, as al-Suyuti stated, al-Mahalli interpreted the Quran from Surah al-Kahf to Surah al-Nas and then began the commentary on Surah al-Fatiha. Al-Suyuti, on the other hand, continued from Surah al-Isra onwards.
