“My soul! Existence belongs to Allah, yet you think it belongs to the creation. Eventually, the existence of the Truth appeared in the form of creation. The creation then thought that the existence of the creation was the Truth. The Truth wanted to reveal Himself but could not find an existence in this realm suitable for His manifestation. Allah the Exalted, in His divine jealousy, temporarily lent His own existence to the creation and brought it into being. One who returns the loan to its owner is freed from debt. One who claims this loan as their own falls into torment. Aliyyülâlâ is an attribution of greatness, meaning high, and is exclusive to the absolute Allah. Among people, one whose rank is higher than their peers is called ‘ali.’ This meaning has spread to all created beings. In each and every thing that exists, there is a perfection that is not found in others, and through that perfection, it is distinguished from others in rank. For instance, the perfect human is superior to all people due to the spiritual attributes they possess. But a fly can fly, while the perfect human cannot; in this aspect, the fly is superior. An ant may possess a superior attribute that the perfect human does not have. This greatness and superiority apply to all things. There is nothing that does not have a share of this greatness, meaning everything has its own unique superiority, a distinguishing aspect. That thing is superior to others through that perfection. The reason for that thing coming into existence is that very superiority, and the knowing of the Truth is through that perfection and that attribute. Now, the one who is a gnostic seeks and finds that perfection in everything, which is why they never look at anything with contempt. When our Master, the Sultan of Prophets, was walking with his companions and they saw a rotten dog carcass, and no one could endure the smell and they all passed by holding their noses, he remarked, ‘How beautiful its teeth are,’ signaling that one should not look at its decay or its vanishing, but rather look at its perfect and beautiful side. Now, whoever reaches the degree of looking at the perfection and the good side of everything has attained perfection.”
