This book has been written primarily based on Ottoman sources and with an understanding that restores Ottoman History to its true, original trajectory.
It is very different from other Ottoman Histories that are products of cultural imperialism, which we have been under the heavy pressure of for 200 years and which is many times more dangerous than military occupation. The official name of the Ottoman state is: Devlet-i Aliyye-i Osmâniyye (The Exalted Ottoman State), and the Ottomans NEVER ONCE used the dirty term "empire" (imparatoriyye-i Osmâniyye) to describe their own political structure.
Both diamond and coal are made of carbon; what makes them different is the difference in structure, the arrangement of the atoms.
Intellectual invasion is far more dangerous than military occupation because a country subjected to military occupation resists and fights, and in time, gains its independence. As the Islamic world, we have been suffering from this intellectual invasion for the last two centuries, and we see many historians in our country using this filthy word for the Ottoman State. If the Ottoman State had been an empire, not a single Serb, Greek, or Bulgarian would have remained, and their languages would have been forgotten, as the Ottomans remained in the Balkans for four centuries. We see what happened in countries subjected to occupation by the Europeans.
Orientalists persist in their lies regarding Ottoman history just as they persist in distorting Islamic history. We will suffice with mentioning the words of the Imam al-A'zam Nu'man ibn Thabit, may Allah have mercy on him, who says:
"I was able to convince forty scholars with a single argument,
but I could not convince one ignorant person with forty arguments."
“Countries and peoples are unique and are not so easily lured into identity with each other save on limited, and specific points” Rupert Emerson, From Empire to Nation (Cambridge, Massachusets:Harvard University Press, 1967), p. vıı.
“In the nineteenth century European imperialism was carried further and became more effective than ever before … During this, some of the old imperial powers continued to enlarge their empires impressively, such were Russia, France and Great Britain. Others stood still and found theirs reduced; this group included the Dutch, Spanish and Portugese.” J.M. Roberts, The Hutchinson History of the World; (London: Hutchinson 1987) p.835.
Why Osmanlı Devlet has not been mentioned among the Imperial Powers?
Because Osmanlı Devlet was not an Empire!
