About the “Akıncı Yolu” and “Akıncı Yol” Magazines
The Akıncı Yolu magazine is a journal of thought and action dedicated to the Büyük Doğu-İbda ideology, published monthly in 20 issues between 1995 and 1997. Its successor, the Akıncı Yol magazine, was also published monthly for 6 issues between February and June 1997. In reality, these two magazines are the continuation of the famous Taraf magazine, which was also dedicated to the Büyük Doğu-İbda ideology and was published first as 39 monthly issues and then as 35 weekly issues between 1991 and 1995. These magazines in the İbda line were characterized as cornerstones of the Islamic movement during the period they were published.
The first issue of Akıncı Yolu magazine is dated May 1, 1995, and featured Martyr Cahit Ayaz on the cover. Its final issue is dated January 1, 1997, and Yahya Yıldırım served as the editor-in-chief for all 20 issues. The editor-in-chief of the Akıncı Yol magazine was Ali Acar. Şükrü Sak served as the Editor-in-Chief for both magazines. The content of the Akıncı Yol magazine features articles written by the Taraf staff from prison, as well as news on the trials of İBDA-C detainees at the DGM (State Security Courts), which turned into a saga of resistance, along with reports on the contentious court hearings and accompanying photographs.
The interview/article titled “Kemalizm’in Son Demleri” (The Last Breaths of Kemalism) featured in Salih Mirzabeyoğlu’s book *Adımlar* was first published in the 20th issue of Akıncı Yolu. Likewise, the articles titled “Noktalama” (Punctuation), published under Salih Mirzabeyoğlu’s pseudonym Adıbelirli, appeared in issues 10 and 12 of Akıncı Yolu. Furthermore, it is estimated that 11 articles published under the pseudonym Abdülhamid Yıldız in various issues of the Akıncı Yol magazine also belong to Mirzabeyoğlu. The same can be said for the unsigned article titled “Yanlış Hesap İbda’dan Döner” (A Wrong Calculation Will Be Corrected by İbda), which appeared in the first issue of Akıncı Yol and serves as an example of using the pen as a sword when necessary.
While hearings at the DGMs were reported under the heading “COURTS,” news on the activities of the İBDA fronts, both legal and illegal, were covered under the headings “FIRE LINE” and “FROM WITHIN THE STRUGGLE.” Thus, the magazine blended thought with action.
Representing a firm stance before the February 28 decisions, many lawsuits were filed against the Akıncı Yolu and Akıncı Yol magazines; they were subjected to police raids, editor-in-chief Yahya Yıldırım and magazine staff were detained, and Yahya Yıldırım, who was put on trial, was sentenced to 12.5 years on the grounds of being a "member of the İBDA-C organization."
The Akıncı Yol magazine also covered the news—which became a national agenda item—regarding the sympathizers who hijacked the Eurasia Ferry to support the Russian-Chechen war. The cover of the second issue of the same magazine featured a challenge against the heavy sentences handed down by the DGMs to those affiliated with İBDA, displaying posters of *Gölge* magazine, which read: “The Lackeys Have Passed Sentence for Forty Years! As If the Treacherous Regime Will Last Forty Years.” In other issues, articles titled “From Secular Captivity to Sharia Freedom” draw attention.
Long texts that exceeded the page limits and spilled over the content of the Akıncı Yolu and Akıncı Yol magazines were provided as supplements to the magazine, starting from the first issue, in eight separate fascicles on various topics.
In conclusion, these magazines, which express the action line of the İBDA members during the 1990-1997 period, are important notes and documents left to the history of the struggle.
