Necip Fazıl possesses an important exemplary status that inspires knowledge with his deep contemplation, sharp wit, and artistic stance derived from the language of 'ecstasy' (vecd). However, neither the relationship between literature and Hadith in a general sense nor the remarkably intensive use of Hadiths in Necip Fazıl Kısakürek’s Büyük Doğu (Great East) corpus, which spans over 100 volumes, has been sufficiently examined.
Necip Fazıl did not merely transmit the more than 2,700 Hadiths he used in his works; he also strove to extract from them the seeds of solutions for our present day, and in this direction, he established a unique new language of 'ecstasy.' This is because he viewed Hadiths not as a heritage of the past, but as guides to shed light on the problems of today. This approach has also served as an example of how he, as a pioneering thinker, internalized Hadiths and put them into practice. In this study, after addressing Necip Fazıl’s Islamic approach in a holistic manner, the Hadiths in his works are examined in their entirety, forming a synthesis in terms of wisdom, aesthetics, and society.
This study, which deeply examines the use of Hadiths in the works of Necip Fazıl Kısakürek and his understanding of Hadith and Sunnah, reveals how a poet, thinker, and man of action in the modern era approached Islamic sources. By analyzing the Hadiths used by Necip Fazıl in terms of technique and content, Kâzım Albayrak examines his way of interpreting Hadiths, his wisdom-based approach, and how he benefited from Hadiths in his social struggle.
