In recent years, there has been a significant increase in studies on Western thought in Turkey. However, some of these studies go no further than repeating the critiques of Western postmodern thinkers and fail to offer any proposals. In particular, the lack of an Islamic worldview among Muslim writers working in this field makes these studies exhausting for their readers.
In his first work, "In the Grip of Modern and Postmodern," Fatih Tekin attempts to understand Western thought based on an Islamic method of contemplation. In the book, Western thought is examined from four different perspectives, offering a critique supported by historical data. Fundamental topics such as modernity, postmodernism, nationalism, globalization, and capitalism are addressed from an Islamic viewpoint.
