Saydnaya Prison in Syria has become a grave for thousands of devout, ascetic, mujahid, scholarly, and student Muslim men. Thousands of Muslims whose cells are unknown, whose graves are unknown, and whose fate on the torture tables remains unknown... Thousands of innocent souls subjected to various tortures simply because they said, "My Lord is Allah"...
In this work, Dr. Mazhar al-Veys, who himself was held captive in Saydnaya for many years, describes Saydnaya—one of the most cruel torture centers of our era—through an inside account. As you read Dr. Mazhar al-Veys's lines, you will hear about the oppression and brutality in Saydnaya firsthand. At the same time, you will have the opportunity to see the political-scientific stances taken by the prisoners during this difficult ordeal, the honorable struggle waged, the debates on methodology, and the betrayals experienced. In this respect, the work offers an opportunity both to understand the oppression and to learn lessons from the grave events that took place.
