Ottoman political thought draws from a rich heritage and finds its expression in various fields, particularly in siyasetnames (books of politics). Works referred to as siyasetname or nasihatname (books of advice) are considered part of a literary genre known as "Mirrors for Princes" in Medieval Europe. Ahmed bin Hüsameddin Amâsî’s Mirâtu'l-Mülûk (Mirror for Princes) is one of the oldest siyasetnames written in Turkish. However, unfortunately, this work has not been sufficiently studied to date. Written in the early 15th century and presented to Çelebi Sultan Mehmet, this work draws attention for presenting a comprehensive political philosophy in a concise manner. To better understand the political philosophy expressed in Mirâtu'l-Mülûk, it is necessary to relate the work to its sources. For this reason, not only has the text been transcribed into modern letters, but information has also been provided regarding the intellectual tradition the author followed and the sources he utilized.
