Most of the "Çerçeve" (Framework) articles written by the master Necip Fazıl between 1939 and 1943 concern the Second World War.
In these articles, despite reports from European channels to the contrary, Necip Fazıl claimed from March 1939 onwards that an unprecedented global apocalypse was approaching and that a war would occur “single-handedly.” While all the chief editors of Bâbıâli presented the Russo-German pact of late August 1939 as a complete guarantee of peace, he wrote that war was only a matter of “a few days,” and three days later, the Second World War began.
Throughout the duration of the war, he astonished everyone with his diagnoses that preceded events and his claims, which he dared to say, “If they do not come true, I will break my pen and cut my wrists,” which one by one became reality.
The only thing that could be said in the face of his articles, which were seen as “astonishing political diagnoses that reached the level of almost foretelling the unseen,” was this:
–Whatever this man says comes true!
Necip Fazıl’s “Çerçeve” articles from between 1939 and 1943, which reveal the entire course of the Second World War with their intellectual and political aspects through a profound culture, understanding, calculation, and intuition, have been compiled in chronological order under the title “War Writings.”
The second volume of War Writings contains the articles from the years 1940–1943.
