"The world is like a ribat (outpost) established at the entrance to the plain of resurrection and is considered a waystation between eternity past and eternity future. This waystation is a stopover for noble guests traveling from the realm of souls to the plain of resurrection. Here, these travelers assist one another in matters of religion and the world, make the necessary preparations for the afterlife, and plan the requirements for an eternal journey.
The circumstances of these guests are varied and diverse; some may appear strong on the outside while being weak within, whereas others may seem weak on the outside but are strong within. The truth of these degrees is infinite, yet it is necessary for these travelers to rely upon and assist one another. For, as stated in a prophetic tradition, believers must support each other to alleviate one another's difficulties.
Those who are weak in the world understand the truth of creation and, by combining this knowledge with service and worship, become compassionate and merciful toward God's creation. Furthermore, they strive to fulfill the rights of their brothers and sisters on the journey to the afterlife. They lead lives filled with assistance and compassion, embodying the principle that "Believers are but brothers."
People of the heart and those with inner vision call those who experience this companionship and the graces of God the "people of futuwwa" and "akhi" (brethren).
