Among the hundreds of works written by Ibn Arabi, the most voluminous and valuable is the work titled Futuhat al-Makkiyya, which he began to write through inspiration while in Mecca. This work touches upon many subjects in the five hundred and sixty chapters it contains and provides a magnificent example of contemplation. One of the topics that Ibn Arabi explains in Futuhat al-Makkiyya is the concept of "Rijal al-Ghayb—The Men of the Unseen." Although this concept had been explained by different Sufis previously, Ibn Arabi is the person who systematized it. The work we have titled The States and Stations of the Righteous is a book in which almost all the sections in Futuhat al-Makkiyya that describe the men of the unseen have been translated into Turkish in verse. The first part of the work includes the stations of the men of the unseen, verses and hadiths related to these stations, various thoughts of other Sufis on this subject, and accounts. The second part of the work contains thirteen stories that exemplify the states and stations of the righteous.
