Redemptive/guiding lives shaped along the axis of the Holy Quran and the Sunnah, while differing in terms of the individuals themselves, possessed the same essence at their core. Redemptive lives are constantly updated through the persons of scholars living in different centuries. Halidi Sheikh Ali Haydar Efendi (r.a.) is one of the most significant protagonists of such lives. The reasons for his life needing to be studied by today's Muslims include his authority in almost every discipline of fundamental Islamic sciences, being perceived as a "gate of needs" by scholars, his refusal to refrain from speaking the Truth during a period when people held their breath in fear, his service of guidance during the final era of the Ottoman Empire and a significant part of the Republic, and his role as the grand master of a community that resisted modernity silently but resolutely in the individual, familial, social, scientific, and intellectual spheres.
