The book titled "Çöpten Gemi, Sinekten Kaptan" (A Ship Made of Straw, A Captain Who Is a Fly) brings together some of Tâhirü'l-Mevlevî's writings on Rumi and his masterpiece, the Masnavi. The title of the book is taken from the title of an essay written by Tâhirü'l-Mevlevî, inspired by a story found in the Masnavi. The first essay is a letter published in the 1943 Mevlana Special Issue of the Konya People's House Culture Journal. This letter serves as a response to the Konya People's House Culture Journal's "proposal to analyze the life and philosophy of Hazrat Mevlana" and contains the author's assessments of Mevlana's life and thoughts. The second piece is the essay titled "Çöpten Gemi, Sinekten Kaptan," which gives the book its name. This piece was taken from the November 4, 1948 issue of the İslâm Yolu magazine. In the section under the heading "Essence from the Masnavi," the author has compiled selected passages from the Masnavi on the subjects of Knowledge, Wisdom, Repentance, Remembrance (Dhikr), Contemplation, Affection, Love, Celibacy, Marriage, Prayer, and Almsgiving. This section was published in the İslâmın Nûru magazine between 1951 and 1953. Finally, the section titled "Hazret-i Mevlânâ’nın Münâcatı" (The Supplications of Hazrat Mevlana) consists of a compilation of writings also published in the İslâmın Nûru magazine in 1951.
