INTRODUCTION
“Even if we are silent, our grave will speak...”
This statement by Master Necip Fazıl is a declaration of truth that proclaims those who are men of ideas and action will not be silenced by death. Indeed, the “Necip Fazıl and Youth” programs held at various universities throughout May have once again demonstrated that the cause he entrusted to the youth is still very much alive. Despite all the years that have passed, the name of Necip Fazıl and the Great East (Büyük Doğu) continue to serve as a compass in the youth’s search for direction.
Today, while the youth are subjected to perhaps the most intense bombardment of information in history, they are simultaneously facing one of their deepest crises of meaning. In such an era, Necip Fazıl’s world of ideas brings the issues of identity, belonging, and responsibility to the fore once again with all their gravity. These programs organized at universities have stood out as real encounters—far beyond mere commemorative events—that seek answers to the question of on which ideas and values the youth will build their own future.
In this issue, we examine the “Necip Fazıl and Youth” programs held in May and carry this voice, which resonates once again in young minds, to our pages. For some people, just as they did while they were alive, continue to speak even after their passing. It is impossible to silence them because their ideas continue to live on in the generations that understand and carry them forward.
