We were unable to understand our teacher, either as a person or the depth of his sense of mission, while he was alive. To illustrate this with a vivid example: he was like a walnut weevil; the worm bores a hole just large enough to enter the walnut and begins to eat it. Up to this point, it is normal. However, as it eats the walnut, it swells, and its belly grows. Once it has had its fill and is satisfied, it wants to leave, but it cannot get out through the hole it entered. This is because the walnut, having been hollowed out, has dried and hardened; expanding that hole is now impossible. It sits and waits; its only recourse to get out is to wait until it loses weight. But by the time it emerges, the season has ended, leaving behind a hungry, scrawny worm and an empty walnut shell… With this work, we have taken a step toward making the pearl-like, invaluable conversations we heard from our teacher, whose true worth we failed to appreciate, available for others to benefit from by transcribing them. We pray to our Lord that He may render all our efforts worthy of His pleasure…
