Mahmud II is known as an Ottoman sultan recognized for his reformist personality. He abolished the Janissary Corps and established a new army in its place called the Asâkir-i Mansûre-i Muhammediye. For this army, he created a literature on the art of war and commissioned translations for this purpose from various Western languages. Mahmud II also valued Islamic literature and had Mehmed Ârif Hilmî Efendi translate the work titled Tezkiretü'l-Hereviyye fî Hiyeli'l-Harbiyye - Politics and the Art of War, which was translated from Arabic. This work is significant in the context of the art of war (military strategy). In this study, in addition to the translated text and its translation into modern Turkish, information regarding the source text and its translation is provided. Furthermore, a facsimile of the manuscript copy of the work is also presented.
