Mahremî's Risâle-i Cevâhirü’l-Esrâr was completed in the 16th century. In the work's preface, it is stated that Mahremî wrote the piece as a gift for someone from whom he had received many kindnesses. It is presumed that this person was Lala Mustafa Pasha, one of the powerful pashas of the reign of Selim II and a prominent figure especially known for the conquest of Cyprus.
The work begins with a section on tawhid (the oneness of God) and subsequently covers topics such as creation, the Muhammadian Reality, and the point of unity. Following the second section, a chapter on political theory (siyasetname) is introduced; this covers themes such as the inner worlds of sultans, their status in the sight of God, and the relationships between viziers, other statesmen, and the sultans. The fourth section describes Sufi concepts such as the qutb, qutbu'l-aqtâb, the two imams, the seven, the forty, the saints and individuals, the pillars (evtâd), the rotation of the celestial spheres, and other categories of saints. After the fifth section, which addresses the concepts of love, the lover, and the beloved, the work concludes with a chapter on prophecy and sainthood.
