Dear reader, this book you are about to read brings to light aspects of history that have remained in the shadows for nearly two centuries, presenting them to you in a unique style and with a method you have never seen before, differing from traditional history books. As you read, you will better understand what I mean by "a unique style." The purpose of this book is not to repeat, in chronological order, the same information about what happened in recent history, nor to recount it as it is taught in school textbooks. The purpose of this book is to make a modest contribution to the "canvas" of the big picture with a single brushstroke; to reveal the plots played out against our country, those who have been tools in these games, and their connections; to gather in a single volume information that has been covered up, left untold, altered, or relegated to the margins; to quote as much as possible from the most authoritative sources; to provide references, information, and evidence; and most importantly, to keep the topics as brief as possible. Because there is no point in deceiving ourselves; there is a truth we must accept: We do not like to read. We like to talk, we like to reason, we like to write and doodle, but when it comes to reading, which should be the foundation of all these, we are nowhere to be found. And when such is the case, the past we do not know becomes no different from modeling clay in the hands of those who appoint themselves as our mentors.
M. Hasan Bulut begins his book "The English Dervish" as follows: It all started when I read in a book by an English female traveler named Rosita Forbes that Mustafa Kemal had dined at Aubrey Herbert's house. Who was this Englishman who hosted Turkey's Atatürk in his home? As I researched, I saw that what happened in history was very different from what is taught in schools.
Just as I have reached the same conclusions in my own readings on recent history, I have witnessed that many points in history have been left in the dark, covered up, altered, or left unwritten, and that historians of the recent past have mocked our intelligence, playing with us while looking us straight in the eye. First and foremost, I recommend that you read this book with a sense free from prejudice.
