ruh-giritli-sirri-pasa
SOUL / Cretan Sırrı Pasha

“This humble servant has written this treatise by collecting some reliable accounts regarding the soul and death, so that it may be a keepsake for his religious brethren.” The soul is one of the most difficult subjects to comprehend. For this reason, there is no other recourse than to consult the scholars. The work you hold is, in this sense, the work of an enlightened scholar. Sirri Pasha of Crete (Giridli Sırrı Paşa) was a statesman of the late Ottoman period and an important Ottoman intellectual who authored many works, primarily in Exegesis (Tafsir), as well as in Theology (Kalam), Logic, the History of Religions and Sects, and Language and Literature. Sirri Pasha of Crete wrote his treatise on the soul in a question-and-answer, or conversational, style. Utilizing the works of scholars and sages who have written on the soul, he produced a highly concise work with a new style and manner. His treatise is like a summary of the works written on this subject in our tradition. In this book published by Şamil Publishing, the original text and its transcription are placed side by side. Thus, those who know Ottoman Turkish will be able to make comparisons, and those who are new learners will have the opportunity to check the parts where they get stuck. Haydar Murad HEPSEV, who prepared the treatise for publication, has presented this small but profound work for the benefit of today's reader in the Simplification-Explanation section by making citations from the works of great scholars such as Al-Qushayri, Imam Al-Ghazali, Raghib al-Isfahani, Avicenna, Shahab al-Din Suhrawardi, Imam Fakhr al-Din al-Razi, Imam Rabbani, Muhyiddin Arabi, Ibn Qayyim al-Jawziyya, Shah Waliullah al-Dehlawi, Abdulaziz al-Dabbagh, Mawlana Khalid al-Baghdadi, Sheikh Ali Behcet Effendi, Sheikh Abdulhakim Arvasi, and Elmalılı Hamdi Yazır.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0673/5088/8690/products/ruh-kapak-on_f5c4c57a-b865-4a30-bb63-770c25359c16.jpg?v=1709562795
