They evolve alongside us, shaped by the codes of our culture and accumulating stories to carry meanings into the present day.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eFor example, rain in our culture does not fall “like cats and dogs” as it does in the \u003cstrong\u003eEnglish language\u003c\/strong\u003e. With us, it pours \u003cstrong\u003e“as if it were spilling from a pitcher.”\u003c\/strong\u003e It is because of this that our love and desire are “soaked to the bone” (sırılsıklam). Our stance is “from head to foot” (baştan ayağa). With us, “beans are not spilled”; with us, \u003cstrong\u003e“the fava bean comes out of the mouth”\u003c\/strong\u003e (the truth is revealed).
