Knowing the human being, the universe, and the Creator, and attempting to position one's own existence through this knowledge, has been the sole subject of the world of contemplation, art, and science from the first human to the present day. Scientists achieve this through the scientific method, research, and investigation, while thinkers, artists, and practitioners of Sufism seek to find it through contemplation, meditation, inspiration, and state. In this respect, the entire history of science, art, literature, Sufism, and thought becomes a feverish field of searching for the question "What is a human being?" or "What is the meaning of a human being?". For this reason, "knowing oneself" or "knowing the human" has been accepted as the highest stage of knowledge.
In his work titled “The Difficulties of the Scholars and the Manners of the Saints”, previously published by our publishing house, Selim Divâne demonstrated the dilemmas that scholars fall into regarding knowing and recognizing the human being, the universe, and the Creator, and explained how this knowledge should be. In this work titled The Proof of the Gnostics..., he expresses the difficulties that gnostics—that is, the possessors of gnosis who have inspiration and the science of state as a method of knowing—fall into regarding knowing the human being, the world, and the Creator. And the two works thus complement each other. The Proof of the Gnostics, in which human sources and paths of knowledge are subjected to criticism, shares with us the subtleties regarding the ways of acquiring knowledge, using knowledge, interpreting it, and carrying it into life as a whole; or, in the words of Selim Divâne, "the secrets that the ocean of love overflows and the pen of inspiration writes on the tablet of the heart."
