The other work, Fîhi Mâ Fîh, is more voluminous and possesses a broader content. Both works were created by subsequently organizing and editing the speeches recorded during the gatherings of Mevlânâ, who, like the vast majority of Sufis, considered conversation a means of spiritual guidance.

The original of Mecâlis-i Seb’a, meaning "Seven Gatherings," is in Persian. According to the statement in the introduction by Mustafa Hulusi Karadeniz, who translated the work, the audience for these speeches was the people of Konya. Since Persian was the state language of that era and writing in Turkish was considered shameful in the field of culture, the sermons delivered in Turkish by Mevlânâ were recorded by his associates and translated into Persian to be compiled into a book.

In the work, which consists of seven sections, a hadith of our Prophet is taken as the subject in each section, and explanations are made around this hadith using verses, stories, and poems. Therefore, Mecâlis-i Seb’a can be accepted as an original, Sufi commentary on hadith.

Throughout the work, a rich poetic repertoire is utilized, ranging from the poet Sanâ'î to Farīd al-Dīn Attar. In this sense, the text can be considered a mirror of Mevlânâ's literary taste and accumulation. As Veled Çelebi İzbudak, who wrote the foreword to the work, stated, through Mecâlis-i Seb'a, we understand what style of expression Mevlânâ used when giving advice to Muslim Turks.

This translation by Mustafa Hulusi Karadeniz (1879-1949), one of the first translations of Mecâlis-i Seb’a into Turkish, has been prepared based on the 1937 edition published during the translator's lifetime.
