Ibn al-Farid is a Sufi poet who lived in Egypt during the era of the Ayyubid rulers. He led a reclusive life on Mount Muqattam and in the vicinity of Mecca, expressing mystical and divine love in his poems. His works were influenced by the words of figures such as Bayazid Bastami and Attar. His "Ta'iyya" and "Khamriyya" odes are particularly important. These poems have been translated into various languages and have been the subject of numerous commentaries. The Khamriyya Ode, which is one of the works that best reflects Ibn al-Farid's poetic art, gains even greater significance through a commentary written by Mulla Jami.
