As can be predicted, the phrase "Dissimulating Führer" in the title of our book was used, inspired by the title of Ergün Poyraz's book, The Clog-Wearing Führer.
By "clog-wearing Führer," Poyraz meant President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
Indeed, on the cover of his book, there was a picture of Erdoğan made to look like Hitler, with an allusion to the term Führer used by Hitler (with his mustache shaved at the sides, his uniform, and the swastika armband on his arm).
So why was Poyraz using the term "clog-wearing"?
Here, the clog is a metaphor for the ones used for ablution, based on his being a graduate of an imam-hatip high school and his performing prayers. Clogs (wooden slippers) are generally found in mosque courtyards.
In Turkey, the unpurified and unclean, in their own minds, use this metaphor to belittle ablution and prayer, and being someone who performs ablution and prayer.
As far as can be understood, this is the greatest flaw they see in Erdoğan.
For Erdoğan, being "clog-wearing," when the literal meaning of the word is considered, is a smear.. A lie.. Perhaps he hasn't put on clogs in 40 years; clogs are not a requirement for ablution.
The term "Dissimulating Führer" that we use for the Thessalonian Atatürk, however, is the truth itself.
Because the Thessalonian is a leader just like Hitler, that is, a Führer.
His difference from Hitler is that he possesses a "virtue" that Hitler lacked, such as dissimulation.
In short, the term "Dissimulating Führer" fits the Thessalonian Kemal Atatürk perfectly.
Yes, dissimulation reveals itself as the most distinct and dominant feature of the Thessalonian's character.
