“I lived through the orchestrated and fabricated 31 March catastrophe, which dragged Turkey into disaster and ruin and led to the dismemberment of the state in the shortest possible time. I saw the terrible tragedy with my own eyes and suffered its tortures.

Thinking we were doing a good thing, I also served as a fedai for the Committee of Union and Progress, and I considered the sufferings I endured as penance for this sin of mine.”
