Dividing his life into two main periods, "Until I Met" and "After I Met" Abdülhakîm Arvasî, Necip Fazıl presented his 1975 autobiographical work "He And I," in which he gives meaning to the events that drew him toward his Master, as follows: "This work is the story of my life with its most private colors, lines, and voices from my birth to the present day, and it is the searing expression of the wisdom of existence manifesting in me, the meaning of which I began to understand only after I met Him. In this respect, compared to the one and a half works I possessed before seeing him, I present this current work—among the more than 60 volumes I have today, all of which I owe to that light—as one that should be placed in the seat of honor and as an indication pointing toward the most intimate inner and outer climates." The book was published in 1965 under the title "The Great Gate."
