This work is the only one written by Şehbenderzâde Filibeli Ahmed Hilmi concerning politics and, briefly put, it begins with the Second Constitutional Era, considered one of the most delicate periods the Ottoman Empire underwent, and concludes with the Raid on the Sublime Porte on January 23, 1913. Furthermore, this work is of extraordinary importance when evaluated within the framework of the conditions of the era, such as the proclamation of the Second Constitutional Era, the 31 March Incident, the dominance of the Committee of Union and Progress, intra-party opposition and the formation of new parties, power-opposition struggles, the Saviour Officers movement, the 1912 Albanian Revolt, the First Balkan War, and the Raid on the Sublime Porte. In the warning and request section at the beginning of his work, Filibeli states, "There is not a single word contrary to the truth in this small work. It is a chronicle that narrates the events exactly as they happened. While writing this work, we thought of nothing but warning the nation and rendering a humble service to our poor homeland," which is indeed an accurate statement. This is because Ahmed Hilmi Efendi personally witnessed this period and was an eyewitness to the aforementioned events, writing and publishing them shortly thereafter. The author, who evaluates these events, has drawn such accurate and useful conclusions with these judgments that they shed light even on our political history to this day. However, the most striking point of the work is the extremely clear explanation that if the Unionists had not carried out the Raid on the Sublime Porte, some of the prominent members of the Freedom and Accord Party were on the verge of staging such a coup d'état.
