Through the spiritual journey known as seyr u suluk, the process of adopting the morals of God, as expressed in the noble hadith, or the traversing of the levels of existence to the level of haqq al-yaqin (certainty of truth), is realized. The gnostics (arifs) have understood adopting the morals of God not only as possessing beautiful character but also, on the plane of truth, as becoming a manifestation of the manifestations of God's actions, attributes, and Essence.\u003cbr\u003e\nOn this path, the follower who becomes a locus of these manifestations experiences various internal (infusi) and external (afaqi) experiences. Spiritual maturation and progress cause changes in a person's feelings, perceptions, and comprehension that evolve toward the truth. The pinnacle of these experiences is that knowledge of God ceases to be discursive\/evidentiary and becomes self-evident\/obvious. On the other hand, until reaching this maturity, the follower witnesses many experiences regarding their own existence, the universe, and God.\u003cbr\u003e\nHidayetü’t-Talibin consists of the spiritual experiences that Abu Said Faruki (d. 1250\/1835), one of the great gnostics who lived at the beginning of the 19th century, went through during his seyr u suluk, and his own explanations of them. Abu Said is one of the successors of Abdullah Dehlavi (d. 1240\/1824), one of the elders of the Naqshbandi-Mujaddidi path, which has had significant influences on the Sufi life of our geography. Indeed, in one respect, the book reveals—if one may say so, in a positive sense—the intimate points of Sufi guidance between Abdullah Dehlavi and the author on the axis of master and disciple. It provides important information about the Sufi understandings and personalities of these two important figures. In another sense, the work offers a beautiful example of what an ideal path, master, and disciple should be for those who feel interest, concern, and commitment to Sufi paths today.
