A detailed assessment of the 1975-1980 period, during which the Islamist Movement took action and took significant steps to become an alternative power to other ideological segments, is essential for a consistent evaluation of what followed.
Because without a consistent content and accounting of where one has come from, the direction of where one is going cannot be determined.
The statement often made regarding the atmosphere before September 12, 1980, that "youth was wasted in the right-left conflict," is not true for the Akıncı Youth. On the contrary, within this political mobility, the Akıncı Movement, primarily founded, conceptualized, and embodied into an action stance by Salih Mirzabeyoğlu, was born.
The Islamist Movement, which began with Necip Fazıl's GREAT EAST struggle during the Republican era, moved toward a healthy structure on the youth level with the spirit of action, first with the GÖLGE and later with the AKINCI GÜÇ magazines in 1975.
In this study, written by a living witness of the 1975-1980 period and with academic discipline, the Gölge and Akıncı Güç magazines and the movement are examined in detail, utilizing both documents and the living testimonies of the period. The final section introduces the Ibda ideology and Salih Mirzabeyoğlu, who are the continuation of Gölge and Akıncı Güç, in broad strokes.
Possessing a memoir-like fluidity in one sense, this work also serves as an important source on the history of the Islamist Struggle of the Republican Era.
