El Minhacüs Seni | The Etiquette of Sheikh Sayyid Abdulhakim Al-Hüseyni

Throughout Islamic history, many works have been written on the subject of Sufism. These works have been needed in every period for various reasons.

One of these works is Âdâbü’t-Tarîkati’n-Nakşibendiyye by Sheikh Fethullah Verkanisi [may his secret be sanctified], which addresses the etiquette and principles of the Naqshbandi order. Written two centuries ago, this valuable work is quite brief and concise for today's needs.

This precious work, el-Minhâcü’s-Senî Âdâb-ı Şeyh Seyyid Abdülhakîm el-Hüseynî, prepared by Sheikh Sayyid Abdulbaki al-Hüseyni [may his secret be sanctified] in both Arabic and Turkish, provides comprehensive information on Sufism, the Sufi path, the Naqshbandi order, and its etiquette. It explains the evidence for this etiquette and these principles from the Holy Quran, the Sunnah, and the sayings of the elders.

Furthermore, in order to distinguish truth from falsehood and to preserve Sufism, the work responds to allegations and accusations directed at Sufism, the Naqshbandi order, and Sufi masters; especially addressing many questions currently forming in people's minds regarding Sufism. The answers are substantiated with the Holy Quran and the Sunnah, as well as the words of scholars of jurisprudence (fiqh), hadith, theology (kalam), tafsir, and the masters of Sufism.

Consisting of seven chapters in total, this work covers Sufi topics such as the concepts of Sufism, the Naqshbandi order and its characteristics, intercession (tawassul), the rights of the master (murshid) and the disciple (murid), spiritual connection (rabita), remembrance (dhikr) and Khatm-i Khwajagan, seeking blessings (tabarruk), and visiting graves. Additionally, the work provides detailed information on the wisdom and benefits of the invocations (tasbihat) performed after obligatory prayers, along with a brief commentary on the Khatm-i Khwajagan.

In the final chapter of the work, there are counsels from Sheikh Sayyid Abdulbaki al-Hüseyni [may his secret be sanctified] to his followers and all believers.

The work makes the necessary Sufi terms and concepts more understandable with the simplicity and fluency that today's reader can grasp.
