"I dedicate my work...
As numerous and intricate as the paths and directions between every star...
Than the paths and directions of the world...
To the sublime spirituality of the greatest pole of the century of the 'Golden Chain'...
My master, my guide, my savior...
Sayyid Abdulhakim Arvasi (may his secret be sanctified), who showed me the only reaching path and the delivering direction...
Who laid the foundation for my life after the age of thirty...

The blessed life of the Messenger of Allah…
The writing of the work is quite an adventure. It was first penned in 1950, a very short section was serialized in the 1952 issues of Büyük Doğu under the title "Allah's Beloved," it began to be published again in 1956 under the title "He," but it remained unfinished, and after a few incomplete attempts in between, it attained its final form and name in 1969.
The Light Descending to the Desert (Çöle İnen Nur) reflects a style different from the usual narratives of Siyer (biography of the Prophet) books. In the presentation of the work, this difference is expressed as follows:
"Compiled from the most reliable sources of Tafsir, Hadith, Siyer, and oral traditions, and free from the anxiety of showing its sources one by one, this work, as stated in the 'Introduction,' is an attempt that addresses only those who possess faith, does not fall into any effort of intellectual inspection, determination, or proof, establishes an emotional and impressionistic structure upon the absolute 'truth,' and if it has any value, gathers it at this point; and the share it gives to reason consists merely of invalidating it with reason itself at certain points. This is not a work of science, but a work of art, and there is no other way to approach the sacred door, where science lacks the authority to verify what is inside and out, than with the artistic attitude of one who has believed and surrendered." / N.F.K.
