INTRODUCTION
Our cover feature focuses on one of the most critical issues of our age: the medicalization of morality and the passivization of human will and conscience. As the burdens that make a person human are lightened through psychiatry and modern diagnoses, responsibility and justice are pushed into the background. The articles and interviews that make up our feature question the responsibility of medicine, the state, the family, and the educational system, while offering concrete ways to bring will and conscience back to the center. The reader will not only read an analysis; they will also see a call to re-embrace their own responsibility, will, and conscience.
Our second feature topic gathers first-hand testimonies regarding the bans and pressures on Quranic education and religious life during the process from the early years of the Republic to the 1950s. Those who felt the fear of the gendarmerie while learning the Quran as children and those who witnessed their teachers being taken to the police station share their stories. While revealing the systematic nature of the oppression, the feature shows that despite all obstacles, Quranic education in Anatolia was not interrupted but, on the contrary, gained resilience.
Beyond these two features, our magazine offers the reader a broad perspective with content ranging from ideas to literature, and from history to current issues; it sheds light on today's problems while recalling the past with in-depth analyses.
