In this work, prepared by the Journal of Human Sexuality Commission, various scientific studies and perspectives regarding sexual orientation change are presented. This study discusses how criticisms directed at sexual orientation change efforts are scientifically unfounded and methodologically flawed; that the famous study by Dr. Robert Spitzer—who played a significant role in the removal of homosexuality as a mental disorder—which demonstrated that sexual orientation could change, but was subsequently retracted due to political pressures under the guise of "scientific grounds," was actually a valid study; the reasons for not publishing findings indicating that sexual orientation change efforts are effective; and the views of the National Association for Research and Therapy of Homosexuality on sexual orientation and sexual variations.
